How To Create Your Own Archery Target

Essential for every game of archery is a target. After all, archers are not expected to fire on air with reckless abandon. The target represents their goal. Hitting the same represents their objective. Simply put, a game of archery is fruitless without an archery target.

Now, if you want a quick game, then simply purchase a target in any sports shop within your area. They're sure to have one in stock. You can even try online retailers who will deliver the same to your doorstep, most of them even promise to do so ever so expediently, allowing only 24 hours of wait time.

But there is an alternative, of course. You can create your own archery target using materials which you no longer use. If you desire this option instead, here are the instructions on how to proceed:

- Create a template for your target. The template should have the size of 3 feet in diameter. Use a cardboard for this. Draw the aforementioned circle and cut out the shape. This will serve as the diagram for your archery target. You need two of these.

- Round up some old rugs and foam from a variety of utilities. The bottom of old mops is a great material too.

- Now, with the materials we have collected above, line them up with the cardboard template in a manner that will make them assume the shape of the template. Pile up the materials until they're 7 to 10 inches tall.

- Sandwich the collected materials in between the two templates. Secure them with a hefty serving of dependable glue.

- Puncture the edges of the cardboard templates with an ice pick.

- Get a thick string and sew the edges together, tightly fastening the materials in between them.

- You can cover the sides of the archery target with cardboard, if you wish, for a more presentable equipment. But this is merely optional.

- You can google for a target template which you can draw on an appropriately sized cardboard. Cut out the target and place it on the item you are creating.

- Now, all that remains to be done is to build a three-legged stand that will support the archery target. The stand doesn't have to be pretty, but it must be able to support the blow of the arrow traveling at a high velocity.

You can create a target using inexpensive materials. Archery need not be a costly sport.
